Position Title:

Full Time Lead Cutter

Start Date: February 13th, 2017

Hours: 40 hours a week, 9am-5pm 

Wage: according to demonstrated skill and experience

We are looking for a Lead Cutter who will help us meet our manufacturing goals through strong work ethics and inquisitive innovation. 

We are looking for a person who is a systematic and innovative thinker with strong social skills to encourage motivation and investment from our small work team. The lead cutter must

  • Have educational or professional experience in the sewn goods industry
  • Demonstrate strong workflow management skills
  • Have diligent memorization skills
  • Be precise and quick
  • Have strong organizational skills to aid in keeping track of fluctuating numbers and produced parts characteristics
  • Be motivated by systems efficiency
  • Balance an independently motivated work pace and a collaborative sense of productivity and achievement
  • Strong assets: Demonstrate competence and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
  • Strong assets: Demonstrate professional investment in the bicycle and outdoor industries
  • Strong assets: Have educational or professional patterning experience

Lead Cutter’s role and responsibilities

The person in the lead cutting position manages, delegates and works within the cutting team to achieve the timely and accurate completion of the cutting queue at Swift Industries. The responsibilities of this position include cutting fabrics and materials, staging cut goods for the manufacturing team, communicating and delegating within a small production team.

We work with manual cutting equipment, so proficiency and comfort with electrical rotary shears is a must. 

The Lead Cutting Position requires comfort standing for long amounts of time, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Three month trial period before long-term hire.

Full Time Industrial Sewing Machine Operator/Seamstress

Full Time Industrial Sewing Machine Operator/Seamstress

Start Date: As soon as position is filled 

 

Payment Type: Hourly

Hours: Full Time 32-40 hours a week

Wage: according to demonstrated skill and experience 

Benefits: Health care stipend, PTO, Paid Sick Time

Seattle-Area inquiries preferred

Qualifications 

  • Proficiency on industrial sewing machines including walking foot, needle feed, bar tack, and cylinder arm sewing machines.
  • Competence with setting tools
  • Accurate and quick-paced work
  • Previous experience with sewn goods manufacturing is mandatory, hobby sewing does not qualify
  • Confidence with pack textiles and heavy duty materials
  • Must speak English 

Tasks 

  • Production Sewing 
  • Tight corner binding
  • Use of electrical rotary sheers, pneumatic grommet press, drills, and industrial walking foot sewing machines.

This is not a line-work position. Individuals assemble panels and parts, and make single products from start to finish. 

We are looking for a fast and focused individual to join our production team. We are a highly goal oriented sewing team that values diligence, efficiency and collaborative spirit. Our sewing and pay structure is not per piece, and thus requires highly motivated drive.

Three month trial period before long-term hire.

Swift Industries designs and manufactures bicycle bags in-house. Our product is acknowledged for its high quality and accurate sewing, and we take great pride in every product that moves through our doors.

We operate in a small studio-factory in Pioneer Square, and are a team of six people.
