Handlebar width compatibility

Step 1: Measure the spacing of your handlebars, inside-to-inside, at the hoods.

Step 2: If you have integrated shifting, enlist a friend to engage the levers fully into the center space between the bars, and measure the space from tip-to-tip.

Clearance (height) specs for use at the handlebars and on the saddle

You’ll need a minimum of 11” (28cm) of space between your bicycle handlebars and the top of your front or rear tire to use the Zeitgeist Pack without a support or rack. Keep in mind that a weighted down pack may sag into the wheel, and pay attention to avoid abrasion.

With a rack: As little as 8″ (20.5cm) of clearance is required to run the Zeitgeist Pack on the front with a Carradice Universal Bar Rack or the rear Carradice Bagman Support.

Storage MVP

The Zeitgeist Pack was the real MVP when it came to storage. I was blown away by how much I could fit inside without it feeling bulky or awkward. It held so much! I had my entire sleep system, layers, food, tubes... The only thing to note is that I did need to install a front rack to keep it from rubbing on my front tire, but once that was in place, it felt solid and stable. Spacious, reliable, and beautiful to ride with. It truly carried me through my first bikepacking trip with ease.

I like it a lot, but there are a couple of things...

What I *really* like is that it will swallow a smallish briefcase bag containing paper files and my Surface Laptop 3 (13.5") and yet there's still room for lunch, a lock, and a spare tube and a repair kit (the tube and kit go in the side pockets).

I do have a few minor complaints--the "collar" could be better-constructed; the internal cord that snugs it up tends to float loose in the collar, since there isn't a well-defined channel. And an outside zipper pocket (like the Catalyst has) would be useful for small things like a saddle rain cover or a granola bar.

Because it's going to be on my bike 24/7, I replaced the Voile straps for the saddle with a pair of enormous zip-ties, and I'm working on using a threadless stem mounted to the seatpost as a stabilizer.

Overall, I like it a lot!

Top load is so superior

Changing to a top loading bag for my handlebars was a total game changer. This bag not only looks great, but is durable and holds a lot of gear. Plus the coyote color makes the tan sidewalls on my tires pop!

What an awesome bag!! Yes, awesome. This bag, on my first 23 mile day, inspired genuine awe in me. Simple, yet comprehensive in its design. Seems tough, can’t wait to tumble it down 500 miles of rides before the snow flies up here in New Hampshire’s, White Mountains. -Little side pockets are so brilliant and perfectly sized I feel like I got something for free. The spacers are crucial, just use them when you inevitably buy this bag, they work just as advertised. I am a customer for life. For LIFE, Hard Stop. Bring on the full bike outfit from Swift.
