Your guide to checking the compatibility of the Zeitgeist Pack and your handlebars

Handlebar width compatibility

  • Width of the Zeitgeist Pack including the materials with side pockets are folded up: 39cm wide.
  • Width of the Zeitgeist Pack when side pockets are full: 48cm wide.

Step 1: Measure the spacing of your handlebars, inside-to-inside, at the hoods.

Step 2: If you have integrated shifting, enlist a friend to engage the levers fully into the center space between the bars, and measure the space from tip-to-tip.

Clearance (height) specs for use at the handlebars and on the saddle

You’ll need a minimum of 11” of space between your bicycle handlebars and the top of your front or rear tire to use the Zeitgeist Pack without a support or rack. Keep in mind that a weighted down pack may sag into the wheel, and pay attention to avoid abrasion.

You may need to engage the cord lock on the lash cord attached to the daisy chain on the back of the bag. If the cord lock is not gripping the shock cord, compress the button end down hard until you hear a click. This means the cord lock is fully engaged and will lock onto the shock cord when static.

Most Versatile bag!

I've tried a few rack and handlebar bags in the last few years, but the Swift Zeitgeist is by far the best one yet. I use volle type straps to affix it to my bike that doesn't have a rack or mounts, bungees for my rasket bike, and a rear bag support under the saddle of my bikepacking rig. All work great!

It fits so much! It thrives in different environments!

I use this bag as a commuter in rainy Seattle. It gets my lunch/laptop/clothes/shoes to work and home dry without having to worry about bumps in the road. You might want a minimalist front rack if you take it off to carry with a bag strap (which I do!! And people always ask me where my cool bag is from)

Kick ass bag

This thing is everything you want it to be and does all you want it to do. Has enough room to be my sole commuting bag which is wild (clothes + shoes + lunch) and works beautifully as part of my bike camp setup. If you need a handlebar bag that holds it all with no need for a front rack, this is the jam. I will note that I use a super minimalist bag support bar that a super small company out in Vermont makes and I find that's necessary when I superpack it out for commutes to keep from tire rub on the extreme end of things, but that won't be needed for 95% of what you'd use this for.

My favorite bag

I absolutely adore this bag. It’s been with me for all of my bikepacking adventures over the past few years and it’s such a great, reliable bag with easy access to gear, and most importantly stylish. A couple things to note, if you wear it in your handlebars: 1. Make sure you get yourself the spacer kit if you’re using drop bars—this is a must! 2. Even with flat bars, get yourself a spacer kit, or else the bolts on your stem may dig in to the bag and cause abrasion. 3. Unless you get a support rack (like the twisted T rack), the paint on your head tube will wear down due to the brake lines being compressed against the frame. 4. I’d say just get a support rack (again, twisted T), or else there is high potential the bottom of the bag will rub against your tires and start causing holes (ask me how I know). All in all, I’ve put this bag through the wringer, and it’s still going strong. It could probably use some repairs, but everything still works great! Do yourself a favor and get this bag.

Zeitgeist fine, return process not so much.

No issue with the zeitgeist pack. Ordered a moxie top tube bag and it just wasn’t the right size. Mailed it back unused and as per instructions, have yet to get refund. Would recommend improving this process. Item was received the 22nd of March and email correspondence said it typically takes 24 hours to get thru returns.
