On the Sixth Day of Swiftmas…. Tetsuo Ehara

A Gift Guide for Bicycle Touring

Hi Tetsuo, tell us about yourself: I love camping and biking separately, but the pictures I saw of Surly’s LHT on the internet were so cool that I started bike camping in earnest 7 years ago.

What bike are you riding here? It’s a Peregrine from Singular Cycles. It’s fun to customize it, because it can be set up in a variety of ways.

What are your favorite Swift bags for this ride and what are you packing in them at this time of year? Of course it’s a Peregrine Randonneur Bag (now discontinued) with the same name as my bike. I always enjoy every weekend with a coffee set in it. Attached to the Peregrine are a Sidekick Stem Pouch and Rando Pocket, perfect small accessory bags for keeping the little things organized. I love going camping with an extra rack and Junior Ranger Panniers (restock coming January 2024).

Tell us about a highlight of riding in 2023? Swift Campout is a great way to get together with fellow Swift Industry enthusiasts, and my friends and I are excited every year. We had a great time this year too!

2023 Favorite Ride Snack? It’s a sausage made of fish. It is convenient to carry at room temperature. It has an interesting taste, so you should try it when you come to Japan.

Tetsuo has set a high bar for style through accessories. Feeling inspired?
